Debbie Grable Laferty Debiie Grable Laferty
Debbie Grable Laferty

After leaving EHS, I attended the University of Akron for two years, earning my A.A.S. in data processing.
Then, I worked for Ohio Edison for two years as a computer programmer.
I returned to the University of Akron in 1979 and earned my B.S. in 1981.
I went on to earn my M.S. in Technical Education (specialization-computer programing) in 1985.

During this period, I was employed as a Programmer/Analyst by the University of Akron.
After receiving my master's degree I accepted a position at Ohio Bell (now AT&T) and worked their in systems analyst, project leader, data base analyst positions.

While on maternity leave, I was approached by the University of Akron to teach computer programming part-time. I found that job much more compatible with motherhood (I had been traveling quite a bit in my job), and worked there for 7 years.

Finally, I was recruited to substitute teach at Revere after tutoring Algebra at the middle school.

I married Sam Laferty in 1988, we currently live in Bath...the farthest I have ever gotten from home in Ellet.
We have two children:
Sarah, who is a Sophomore at Revere High and a triple threat: singer, dancer, actress.
She is an active member of Revere Players, and has been on stage since she hit the high school. She is also in Symphonic Choir, and has participated in OMEA competitions since 8th grade. She is also a member of the Leadership Coalition at RHS, and will be the Youth Elder at Westminster Presbyterian Church in 2009.
Amy is in 7th grade at Revere Middle School, and runs cross country and track. She is also first trumpet in the 7th grade band at RMS. She is a member of the RMS gamers club and loves to draw anime.

When asked about what she does with her free time, Debbie replied."Two teenagers that don't drive and have a lot of activities--what free time? I am an active member of Revere Player's Boosters and attend plays, concerts, meets, etc., etc. I also drive to a lot of practices and private lessons."

And, finally, Debbie wanted to tell everyone that she is entering her 11th year as a Girl Scout leader.
